HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO HAVE MY EXTINGUISHERS INSPECTED?

Fire extinguishers must have an examination completed by a licensed professional annually. When an inspection is performed, the extinguisher is tagged and certified for 1 year.

WHEN DO MY EXTINGUISHERS NEED TO BE SERVICED?

A rechargeable ABC (dry chemical) fire extinguisher must have 6-year maintenance performed, where the unit is disassembled, serviced, and reassembled. Allied Fire has new and recharged extinguishers available to replace those that are due for their 6-year maintenance.

Additionally, dry chemical extinguishers require hydrostatic testing every 12 years. This is a process where the extinguisher is emptied, filled with water, and pressurized to 3 times the service pressure for at least 30 seconds. This ensures the integrity of the extinguisher body. If the extinguisher passes the test, it is dried and then reassembled and pressurized for service.
